Academic Administrator - Sociology Full Description

Position Summary: 
Arts & Science is seeking a dynamic Academic Administrator to join the Department of Sociology. This individual will administer advisement for current and prospective students, assist with curriculum planning, course scheduling, and registration; manage the graduate admissions process along with the Director of Graduate Studies and admissions chair; administer graduate school fellowship and award process; process and approve graduations; provide light supervision of casual employees; act as administrative liaison with other school and University offices; interpret and apply University policies to plan and manage moderately complex administrative matters, referring complex cases to supervisor and/or school administrative leadership. 

Qualifications: 
Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree

Preferred Education:
Master's Degree

Required Experience:
2+ years relevant experience or equivalent combination of work and education. Must include experience with counseling and/or academic advising, special events planning and implementation.

Preferred Experience:
Experience in an academic environment.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Excellent organization, interpersonal, and communication skills. Knowledge of standard office software. Additional Information: 
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $71,609.07 to USD $75,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
