| Description: The College of Engineering - Industrial Engineering is looking for either an Academic Advisor level 1, 2 or 3

AA1:
Provides information and advice to enrolled and prospective students regarding the academic programs offered by the University or a specific department, including requirements for admission and retention through graduation.

1. Advises enrolled and prospective students regarding academic programs and curriculum.   
2. Analyzes and processes degree plans, graduation applications, grade change forms, and general petitions.   
3. Maintains students' files updated throughout their academic careers and makes changes to records as necessary.   
4. Analyzes and processes requests for readmission from academic suspension, and financial aid reinstatements; provides retention services for students on probation.   
5. May assist in conducting orientation sessions for groups of incoming freshmen and transfer students. 
6. Processes Veteran's Administration paperwork, writes graduation verification letters, and provides financial aid appeals.   
7. May assist in recruiting high school and community college students and may make presentations at special events.   
8. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

MQ: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Requires a minimum of one (1) years of directly job-related experience.


AA2:

6. May assist in recruiting high school and community college students and may make presentations at special events.
7. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Directs and coordinates the academic advising activities of a college or major educational office.

1. Directs, implements and evaluates advising activities for a college or major office. 
2. Interprets and communicates academic policies and procedures to faculty, students and staff.   
3. Coordinates and supervises the mailing of all letters of recommendation to professional schools and maintains statistics on the number of students entering professional school.   
4. Conducts career counseling workshops and provides advise on field of study.   
5. Participates in class schedule development and registration tasks, including problem enrollments, drop/adds, and so forth. 
6. Supervises the compilation and analyses of data and the preparation of related management reports. 
7. Acts as liaison with university administration and faculty on academic matters. 
8. Performs other job-related duties as required.

MQ: Requires application of advanced principles, techniques and theory in a professional discipline or a thorough general business management knowledge.  Knowledge of this level is typically obtained through a directly job-related Master's degree or equivalent formal training in a recognized field of specialization that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Requires a minimum of one (1) year of directly job-related experience.
