Posting Summary | The University of Vermont Patrick Leahy Honors College seeks a dynamic and student-focused individual to join the PLHC Team as an Advisor who will help build a vibrant residential college experience. The PLHC Advisor will be responsible for providing academically focused advising services to PLHC students, guiding them through their academic journey, and supporting their personal and professional development. This position requires a passion for working with highly motivated students, a deep understanding of academic opportunities, and the ability to foster a supportive and inclusive community.
Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
Bachelor’s degree and 1-3 years of experience in higher education, counseling, student affairs, or related field. Experience working in academic advising, preferably in a college or university setting. Knowledge of higher education policies, academic requirements, and student development theories. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with diverse student populations. Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for high-achieving students. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment. Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail. Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and student needs.
Desirable Qualifications | Experience with learning management systems and advising software is preferred (e.g. Banner, Navigate, Suitable).
Anticipated Pay Range | $52,000-$55,000

Special Conditions | A probationary period may be required, Occasional evening and/or weekends required (if non-exempt position, may result in overtime), A probationary period may be required for current UVM employees, This position is eligible for a hybrid schedule with an option to split time between campus and elsewhere, in accordance with the university telecommuting policy, Bargaining unit position, External candidates must complete a 4-month probationary period, Background Check required for this position
