Academic Advisor, Associate Full Description

Join Purdue University Fort Wayne: 
We are currently seeking a full-time and onsite Academic Advisor, Associate in our Central Advising department. This position provides advising, continual support, and strategic direction to assigned student groups and advising load. The annual salary for this position is $43,888.00.
 
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Provide academic advising to assigned students.
  • Maintain and ensure confidentiality of student records.
  • Communicate regularly to encourage a trusting relationship with students via e-mail, text, appointment campaigns and other electronic platforms
  • Participate in college level events and programs.
  • Assist with the recruitment and retention of undergraduate students for the academic unit/campus.
  • Submit data and documentation of proper maintenance of student records.
  • Other duties as assigned.
 
Required Qualifications:
  • Graduate/professional degree. * BA/BS plus 2 years of relevant experience will be considered*
  • 0-1 year of experience.
  • Occasional nights and weekends.
  • Ability to collaborate with faculty, staff, current and prospective students, parents, and families.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to problem solve and utilize campus resources for individuals and groups.
  • Ability and willingness to work in a changing environment.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous Higher Education experience.
  • Knowledge of undergraduate student development and recruitment.
  • Knowledge of programs and majors at Purdue University.
  • Knowledge of field related to majors advised.
