Description

The School of Integrative Physiology and Athletic Training (IPAT) invites applications for an Academic Advisor III to provide comprehensive academic advising and internship coordination for undergraduate and graduate students within the School.

This position is responsible for the day-to-day management of internships and academic advising services that support student success. The Academic Advisor III serves as a resource for students, faculty, internship site supervisors, and campus partners while coordinating internship experiences, advising students on academic requirements, monitoring student progress, and supporting assessment and reporting efforts related to advising and internships.

Examples of Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide academic advising and programming for undergraduate, graduate, and pre-Athletic Training students
  • Coordinate and oversee internship experiences for IPAT students
  • Develop and implement assessment processes to evaluate internship outcomes and support continuous improvement
  • Serve as a central resource for students, faculty, internship coordinators, and site supervisors
  • Coordinate internship site visits, tours, and related activities
  • Collect, analyze, and report internship and student success data
  • Participate in advising and internship-related meetings, events, and committees

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and one (1) year of directly related advising and internship experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid driver's license or ability to obtain one upon hire
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, including public speaking, verbal, written, listening, and feedback skills 
  • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and build effective relationships with interns, students, staff, faculty, and administration
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and maintain sound judgment, professionalism, and composure in stressful situations
  • Sensitivity and respect for individual and cultural differences
  • Skills to gather, evaluate, and report data
  • Knowledge of, or ability to learn, UM general education requirements, FERPA, and institutional systems
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, and ability to learn Banner, and current technologies

Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of MUS, University of Montana, the College of Health, and IPAT
  • Experience working in a higher education setting
  • Progressive experience with internship advisement, internship program coordination, or experiential learning programs
  • Experience utilizing student information systems, advising technologies, or comparable software platforms
  • Knowledge of current advising best practices and FERPA regulations

Additional Information

Compensation Title: Academic Advisor III 

Bargaining Unit:
FOCUS-MFPE 

Work Schedule:
Full-time, 1.0 FTE (40 Hours a week), Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, 12 months/year

Probationary Period:
Six (6) months minimum
