Academic Applications Administrator (Re-announcement)
Location: Charleston, South Carolina — College of Charleston, IT Training and Support
Classified, Non-Faculty position, Pay Band TEC06. Salary: $67,728 - $90,300, commensurate with education/experience.
This is an on-campus position. After-hours support may be required to troubleshoot system/application outages, and some occasional travel for professional development, conferences, and meetings may be required.
Job Purpose
The Academic Applications Administrator serves as the primary technical expert for all enterprise systems and integrations related to teaching and learning. The role provides operational support to faculty and students on academic applications and systems, and ensures existing and future applications align with the architectural and infrastructural standards and strategies set by Information Technology and the institution.
Minimum Requirements
Associate’s degree in an IT-related field and 2 years of IT-related experience in higher education required. A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field is preferred. Candidates with an equivalent combination of experience and/or education are encouraged to apply.
- Expertise with the management and support of Learning Management Systems (LMS) and LMS integrations
- Deep understanding of LMS architecture, including system configuration
- Competence in accessibility compliance, including testing system content against WCAG 2.1
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Extensive working knowledge of systems architecture, systems planning and design, network operating systems, and systems management
- Strong analytical, technical troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis skills
- Familiarity with project management methodology and Identity and Access Management (including Active Directory and user provisioning)
- Familiarity with digital content standards such as SCORM, xAPI (Tin Can), and LTI
- Basic coding and web technologies — reading HTML, CSS, and simple JavaScript to troubleshoot formatting issues and embed web components
- Expertise integrating third-party tools into an LMS via APIs
- Strong attention to detail for quality assurance, including course uploads, role management, and content testing
- Excellent customer support and communication skills, including writing clear technical documentation and translating technical issues into user-focused language
