Job Description:
The Academic Coordinator, Assessment and Program Evaluation supports curriculum and is responsible for aiding faculty in assessment creation, data analysis, and institutional outcomes reporting. This position interfaces with all other departments, including foundational sciences and clinical faculty, other Office of Assessment and Evaluation Staff, student development, and curriculum staff.
This position is within the Office of Assessment and Evaluation, and supports institutional effectiveness through consultation with staff, faculty, and community partners on the development of instruments and experimental designs. Work is informed by standard principles of measurement, assessment, and evaluation, including classroom examinations, faculty and staff evaluation formats, and academic program development and evaluation.
Salary Range: $48,600 - $60,000; Depending on experience
Essential Duties:
Coordinate assessment and evaluation activities for the medical program.
Monitor and follow-up on the completion of student evaluations and faculty assessment of medical students.
Assist with collecting final grades to meet ASU and LCME deadlines.
Liaise with faculty to construct formative and summative assessments in the LMS (Elentra) and testing software (NBME).
Evaluate medical program assessment and evaluation effectiveness to develop improved methods, devise evaluation methodology and implement, analyze results and recommend and/or take appropriate action.
Handle and secure highly sensitive and classified testing materials and student information.
Proctor quizzes and exams in-person
Review program documents independently or in conjunction with supervisor to help make decisions pertaining to the assessment process for the medical program.
Prepare reports and records on program activities, progress, status, or other special reports for leadership and program evaluation.
Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities
Regular review of completed tasks.
Use critical thinking to make decisions and/or analyze and report data/results of tests conducted.
Deliver presentations to a variety of audiences.
Initiate confidential correspondence on behalf of the program.
Work both independently and within a complex structured team.
Able to exercise judgment within generally defined practices & policies to determine appropriate action.
Professional representation of department/programs
Monthly formal check-in meetings with supervisor on goals and professional development.
Use office equipment.
Schedule appointments and maintain calendars.
Other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required; preferred in education, healthcare, or related field.
2-4 years of experience in academic administration, preferably in medical or health professions education.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication.
Proficiency in office and education technologies (e.g., Microsoft Office, learning management systems, student information systems).
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
Skill in performing detailed numerical computations.
Skill in preparing detailed reports on a timely basis
Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions
Work collaboratively across various departments, as well as with diverse populations and groups across the University
Use computers effectively - including inputting, reviewing, retrieving information, extended periods of viewing screen, and using mouse and keyboard
Ability to use calculator, telephone, computer (monitor, keyboard, and mouse), printer, fax, and copier
Use of basic math and a calculator
Working Environment:
Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse
Frequent physical demands may include stooping, bending, crawling under/around objects, reaching, lifting and pushing objects of varying weights up to up to 20 pounds (light)
May be required to perform tasks in the field within and/or across University campuses

Position may involve shared offices/space
This position is full-time, and the incumbent should generally be available Monday - Friday, 8am-5pm, however an alternate work schedule may be required on occasion.
The primary work location is the Downtown Phoenix campus, but a presence on other campuses or at off-campus locations may be required.
