Job Summary/Basic Function This position provides comprehensive academic advising, instruction, and college access support to program participants through after‑school programming, individualized and group advising, outreach, and enrichment activities. The role includes developing and delivering college‑readiness curriculum; coordinating academic, enrichment, and summer residential programming; and collaborating with school partners, families, and university staff to support student success. Responsibilities also include recruiting and monitoring eligible participants, maintaining accurate records and data, supporting post‑secondary planning and enrollment, and contributing to summer programming, including instruction and residential supervision.
Minimum Qualifications | Bachelor’s degree in education, sociology, psychology, or a related field. Minimum one year of prior professional experience with case management and professional record reporting. Demonstrated experience of communicating effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to travel and attend evening events, including overnight events. Proficient with technology (i.e., MS suite, Schoology, Canva, Outlook, case management and other software). Excellent customer service skills are required.
Preferred Qualifications | Master’s degree in a field of study closely related to the work being performed in this position. Coaching and teambuilding experience to help motivate students. Demonstrated experience with preparing data reports.

Job Duties
Description of Job Duties | Plan, facilitate, and deliver instruction in an advisory role during after-school meetings at target schools, including supervision of tutoring services. Develop, implement, and continuously evaluate curriculum aligned with college readiness and academic skill development, incorporating best practices from similar programs. Plan and coordinate academic enrichment activities, college visits, workshops, and other program events throughout the academic year. Assist in planning and facilitating student and parent orientation sessions. Provide group and individual advising to participants, including academic, career, and personal guidance. Develop and monitor individualized student success plans; administer and interpret assessments to support student growth. Conduct regular conferences with students and parents to review academic progress and program participation. Provide comprehensive college access support, including guidance on post-secondary options, admissions processes, and financial aid and scholarship applications. Assist students with researching, applying to, and enrolling in post-secondary institutions. Maintain accurate and up-to-date participant records, including tracking attendance, grades, academic progress, and participation in program activities. Utilize school and program data systems to monitor student performance, identify areas for growth, and support data-driven decision-making. Collaborate with target school staff, teachers, and program personnel to coordinate services and support participant success. Obtain and manage student records, including transcripts, test scores, educational stipends, and required documentation for program participation and activities. Assist with developing program communications for students, families, and stakeholders. Recruit and identify eligible participants in accordance with federal TRIO guidelines. Screen applications, verify eligibility, conduct interviews, and recommend candidates for program selection. Collaborate with program leadership, Shepherd University campus partners, and BCPS staff to plan and implement the Upward Bound summer program, including academic classes, residential programming, and enrichment activities. Assist with recruiting, training, and supervising residential staff. Participate in summer programming, including overnight supervision responsibilities and be comfortable teaching a summer elective course. Participate in professional development to enhance skills for assistant for underserved populations. Perform additional duties as assigned by program leadership. Other duties as assigned.
