Job Summary/Basic Function:  | Reporting directly to the Assistant Vice Provost for Academic Engagement, the Program Coordinator will be responsible for developing, promoting and delivering student-facing programs that increase academic involvement, connect students to institutional resources, and support progressions toward degree completion. This position supports priority student populations identified through predictive analytics, with a focus on improving academic engagement and university retention metrics.

Through evidence-based practices, strategic outreach, collaborative programming and a dedicated student centric model, the Program Coordinator encourages students to fully engage academically by teaching students lifelong success strategies that equip them with the tools, strategies, and confidence needed to succeed at the university, the workplace, and beyond This role strengthens Wright State University’s ability to provide high-impact engagement opportunities and deliver measurable results in student persistence and completion.
Minimum Qualifications  | Bachelor’s degree 1-3 years of experience in community outreach, public relations, education, management, customer service, marketing, enrollment or progressively responsible roles in a related field; one of those years working with college or high school students and can include pertinent experience earned prior to bachelors degree completion. Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong Project Management Skills Strong presentation and public speaking skills for diverse audiences, both on and off campus. Strong computer skills Some evening and weekend hours required.

Essential Functions and percent of time:  | 50% Student and Community EngagementDevelop and implement campus-wide initiatives and programs that support the university’s strategic goals, enrollment management plans and retention priorities.Promote student participation in academic life through resource-driven events, peer involvement, and access to academic enrichment opportunities. Support student-led activities that encourage university connection, leadership development, and academic engagement Collaborate with the local community to build strategic relationships that support a college-going culture in the region and provide direct support to prospective, current, and graduating students via college readiness programs and resources. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of university policies and procedures to inform strategies aimed at improving student outcomes and support services. Engage with students, faculty, staff, and alumni on issues related to access, creating opportunities for mentorship and networking. Hire, train, and manage student workers in support of event planning and day-today operations. Coordinate social media initiatives and maintain the department’s website.

30% Program Development and Institutional AlignmentUse predictive analytics and other institutional data to identify engagement gaps and develop programming to increase student involvement and progression. Ensure programs align with university policies and state requirements while addressing student engagement needs. Gather and analyze student feedback to assess program effectiveness and recommend improvements. Maintain detailed case notes and documentation in alignment with institutional guidelines and FERPA compliance to ensure effective tracking and continuity of care. Coordinate with key campus offices including Academic Advising, Academic Success Centers, First-Year Experiences, Honors, Financial Aid, Career Services, Student Advocacy, Residence Life, and Counseling Services to streamline referrals and enhance wraparound services for students. Execute communication strategies (e.g., email campaigns, targeted outreach, academic recovery plans) to engage students identified as at risk of academic difficulty or disengagement.Actively serve on university committees and working groups focused on improving outcomes for targeted retention cohorts. Analyze trends in student concerns and work collaboratively to recommend and implement institutional improvements in policy, programming, and support systems Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism, empathy, and integrity in all interactions with students and colleagues.
Essential Functions and percent of time (cont'd):  | 15% Student Involvement and Campus ConnectionLead or support involvement fairs, campus events, and outreach efforts that connect students to institutional services. Encourage student participation in university-sponsored initiatives that support civic, academic, and professional readiness. Maintain strong partnerships with departments such as Orientation, Career Services, Student Affairs, and Academic Success Centers. 5% OtherAttend, participate and support scheduled University and Divisional Student Success programs throughout the year including some evenings and weekends. Other duties as assigned.
