About the Role: As an Tutor at Tutor Me Education, youâll provide personalized, one-on-one tutoring to students with special needs in their homes. You will be responsible for helping students with daily activities, offering moral support, and delivering tailored instruction based on their Individualized Education Plan (IEP).

Details:
- In-Person Tutoring in Hawthorne, CA
- Schedule: 10 hours, 2x per week 1Hr 15Min
- Pay range is between $25 and $35
Ideal Candidate:
- Valid teaching credential required (Special Education or Multiple Subject preferred)
- Experience working with students diagnosed with Autism, ADHD (inattentive type), anxiety, and sensory processing needs
- Strong background in foundational literacy, including phonics, decoding, spelling, reading fluency, and comprehension
- Solid understanding of foundational math instruction, including multi-step problem solving and conceptual understanding
- Experience supporting executive functioning skills (organization, task initiation, planning, attention, and transitions)
- Knowledge of writing development, including language conventions, sentence structure, organization, and writing traits
- Skilled in Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) strategies and emotional regulation supports
- Patient, gentle, and emotionally intelligent; able to build trust with sensitive learners
- Creative and able to incorporate student interests into academic instruction
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized, credentialed instruction in foundational literacy skills, including phonics, decoding, spelling, reading fluency, and comprehension
- Support writing development, including written expression, grammar, organization, and structured paragraph formation
- Deliver targeted math instruction, including foundational skills and multi-step problem-solving strategies
- Strengthen executive functioning skills, including organization, task initiation, sustained attention, and managing transitions
- Incorporate Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) strategies to support emotional regulation, resilience, and confidence
- Use structured routines, visual supports, and step-by-step modeling to promote independence
- Implement strategies to reduce anxiety and support positive responses to feedback
- Integrate preferred interests (e.g., art, drawing, stickers, sensory tools, beads, creative activities) into lessons to increase engagement and motivation
- Monitor progress and provide regular updates to caregivers
- Maintain a supportive, calm, and confidence-building learning environment
