Academic Operations Manager Full Description

As an academic operations manager, you will collaborate with academic leadership to support assigned academic departments and ensure their operations align with the university's mission, vision, strategic plan, and priorities. Under the supervision of the senior director of academic operations, you will manage the schedule and appearance of academic spaces for Operation 360, SCAD Days, signature events, commencement, and more. You will research, plan, and provide on-site support for additional high-profile events and maintain a consistent, visible presence in assigned buildings. Among other duties, you will provide quality assurance and editorial support for university reports, presentations, and policies, and facilitate mentor and invited guest programs, faculty-led workshops, faculty award programs, and other high-level university initiatives.

In this role, you will establish quality control mechanisms to ensure the efficiency, accuracy, and timeliness of operations, especially for event support requests, school-based project management, and quarterly documentation. You will analyze operations to identify opportunities for improvement, propose enhancement solutions, and ensure compliance with university administrative policies and procedures across all operations. Responsibilities include the preparation of reports for academic leadership, the coordination of faculty observations with academic leadership, and assistance with the faculty recruitment process. When needed, you will attend departmental, school, and other academic or operational meetings.

The ideal candidate demonstrates exemplary planning, organization, and communication skills. They also possess strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a high attention to detail and accuracy. The candidate can multitask to manage multiple deadlines.

Minimum qualifications:  
  • B.A. degree minimum
  • At least three years of relevant professional experience
  • Expertise in computer applications and databases

Travel required:  
  • Less than 10%  

Work hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
