| Job Summary |
The program manager is responsible for the overall administrative management and strategic support of the Vascular Surgery Residency and Fellowship Programs. This position oversees administrative aspects of program operations, budgets, personnel, accreditation-related activities, educational administration, recruitment, and program development in collaboration with program directors, faculty, department leadership, and University partners. The program manager ensures programs operate effectively, comply with institutional and national accreditation educational requirements and standards, and supports the division’s academic, clinical, and organizational goals. The successful candidate will provide leadership in developing and implementing policies, procedures, systems, and processes that improve program effectiveness, trainee experience, operational efficiency, and quality, and serves as a primary administrative liaison between the vascular surgery educational leadership, department leadership, the office of Graduate Medical Education, faculty, trainees, and other internal and external stakeholders. This position does not provide direct patient care. |
| Responsibilities |

Program Administration: Directs the day-to-day administrative operations of the Vascular Surgery Residency and Fellowship Programs, ensuring effective coordination of educational, personnel, and organizational activities.

Program Development and Strategy: Works with program directors, faculty, and departmental leadership to develop and implement strategic initiatives, new educational programs, policies, and processes that advance program and departmental goals.

Graduate Medical Education Administration: Coordinates administrative requirements related to residency and fellowship education, including program documentation, scheduling, meetings, recruitment, trainee onboarding, evaluations, and compliance with applicable University and GME requirements.

Recruitment and Trainee Support: Oversees the administrative aspects of resident and fellow recruitment, selection, onboarding, orientation, and ongoing program support. Serves as an administrative resource for trainees and facilitates resolution of program-related concerns.

Process Improvement: Evaluates program systems, workflows, and outcomes to identify opportunities for improved efficiency, service, communication, and trainee experience. Develops and implements process improvements as appropriate.

Stakeholder Coordination: Serves as a central administrative liaison among the vascular surgery division, program leadership, faculty, trainees, GME, departmental and University offices, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and continuity of operations.

Program Evaluation and Quality Improvement: Monitors program performance and stakeholder feedback, identifies areas for improvement, and coordinates initiatives designed to strengthen educational quality, operational effectiveness, and trainee satisfaction.

Meetings and Events: Plans and coordinates program meetings, conferences, recruitment activities (i.e. interviews), educational events, and other activities necessary to support residency and fellowship operations.

| Minimum Qualifications |
Bachelor’s degree in a related area plus three years of experience in budget, grant and program management or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience) required. Develops and implements program ideas into successful academic and research programs; demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills also required. Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description. |
| Preferences |
- Master’s degree in healthcare administration, business administration, public administration, education, or a related field.
- Experience in graduate medical education, academic medicine, healthcare administration, or a surgical specialty.
- Experience administering surgical or medical residency and/or fellowship programs.
- Familiarity with accreditation and compliance requirements applicable to graduate medical education.
- Demonstrated experience with process improvement, program development, and strategic planning.
- Experience working effectively with physicians, faculty, trainees, and senior leadership.
