At Tutor Me Education, we are revolutionizing the way students learn, and we're seeking passionate teachers and tutors with special education experience to provide 1:1 in-home tutoring in Foster City, CA! About the Role: As an Tutor at Tutor Me Education, youâll provide personalized, one-on-one tutoring to students with special needs in their homes. You will be responsible for helping students with daily activities, offering moral support, and delivering tailored instruction based on their Individualized Education Plan (IEP).
We are currently hiring for multiple positions across all cities in Foster City, CA
Details:
- In-Person Tutoring in Foster City, CA
- Schedule: 20 hours per month; 1 day a week 1.15 hour session
- Rate is between $25 and $35 per hour
Ideal Candidate:
- Experience working with young adults with autism and communication differences
- Background supporting functional academics at the middle to high school level
- Strong skills in reading comprehension, communication support, and functional math
- Experience teaching real-life problem-solving and practical academic applications
- Familiarity with Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) strategies
- Experience incorporating mindfulness practices such as yoga, breathing exercises, or meditation
- Ability to support students with limited expressive language
- Patient, calm, and supportive, especially when working with students who experience anxiety
- Engaging and creative, with the ability to incorporate movement and interests into sessions
- Comfortable conducting an academic assessment to guide instruction
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct an initial tutor assessment to determine current academic and functional skill levels
- Provide instruction in ELA with a focus on functional academics, comprehension across content areas, and communication support
- Deliver math instruction centered on functional math skills and real-world problem-solving
- Support development of communication through structured, supportive interaction and comprehension checks
- Incorporate Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) strategies into all sessions
- Integrate mindfulness-based practices such as yoga, breathing exercises, and meditation to support regulation and focus
- Create structured, predictable sessions with a calm and supportive tone
- Support anxiety management and engagement through proactive strategies and positive reinforcement
- Incorporate student interests (e.g., music, Just Dance, swimming, food exploration) into lessons to increase motivation
- Provide a safe, encouraging environment that promotes participation and confidence
- Adjust instruction based on student responsiveness and progress
- Communicate regularly with caregivers regarding progress and strategies
