Responsibilities
Working closely with the Assistant Director of Curriculum and Academic Services, the Coordinator oversees registration and academic support for a minimum of two Syracuse Abroad overseas centers: creates academic calendars, develops and distributes academic information to students, updates course fee sheets, and provides registration instructions. The position coordinates and manages online registration for designated Syracuse Abroad Center(s), processes new course approvals and course regularizations, and coordinates early and mid-semester progress reports. Drives data-informed decision-making by generating and analyzing academic queries and reports; ensures the accuracy and quality of academic content across Syracuse Abroad publications and digital platforms, including the academic sections of the Syracuse Abroad website. Serves as a trusted, professional point of contact for Syracuse Abroad in all communications with students, parents, and key study abroad partners. Communicates academic updates to advising teams within Syracuse University and at partner schools, helps organize and participates in advisor workshops/meetings, and shares pertinent information on the Syracuse Abroad academic advising listserv.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree required. Knowledge of SU PeopleSoft and other systems strongly preferred. Familiarity with academic programs of Syracuse University Schools and Colleges helpful. Excellent time management, communication (written and oral) skills, and intercultural awareness/sensitivity required.
Skills and Knowledge
Use of PeopleSoft systems, OrangeSUccess advising tool, Terra Dotta/OrangeAbroad application portal, and Qualtrics, plus proficiency in Microsoft Office products (especially Word and Excel) and basic website updates. Familiarity with the Blackboard learning management system. Requires a high level of attention to detail and independent judgement/reasoning.
