Job Description:
The Department of English is seeking an enthusiastic, team-oriented and engaged Academic Success Advisor to support the success of immersion and online undergraduate students. This position reports to the Assistant Director of Academic Services and works collaboratively to promote the academic success, retention and timely graduation of undergraduate students through a range of in-person and virtual academic advising and support strategies.
Position Salary Range:
$46,500-$49,000; DOE
Essential Duties:
Provides 1:1 academic advising using a variety of modalities, including in-person, Zoom, phone and email.
Regularly interacts with students in support of academic success and engagement, as well as progression toward degree completion.
Proactively monitors student academic performance through a variety of reporting tools, including e-Advisor, Salesforce, Peoplesoft and DARS.
Participates in outreach efforts to identify and assist students needing intervention.
Assists students in resolving academic issues; makes appropriate and timely referrals to applicable student services.
Serves as a college/department liaison to current and prospective students, faculty, staff and external groups on issues related to student success.
Collaborates with academic units and student service departments to facilitate comprehensive student support.
Attends and participates in staff meetings, professional development trainings and other student support-related meetings.
Maintains accurate student electronic records and timely student response.
May perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications:
Master's degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment.
Experience advising or providing related student services in higher education.
Evidence of effective written and verbal communication skills.
Evidence of strong organizational and time-management skills.
Experience in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with peers, faculty, staff, students, administrators and others.
Experience with MS office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook); Peoplesoft, DARS, Salesforce.
Working Environment:
Activities are performed in an environment-controlled office setting, subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding, and manipulating a computer mouse (75%)
Frequently required to stand for varying lengths of time and travel moderate distances to perform work (25%).
Regular use of standard office equipment, including, but not limited to: computer workstation/laptop (keyboard, monitor, mouse), printer, fax, calculator, copier, telephone and associated computer/technology peripherals
Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds
Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.
Ability to clearly communicate verbally, read, write, see and hear to perform essential functions.
This position receives regular review of objectives

Alternative work schedules can include four, 10-hour workdays in a workweek; a nine-day, 80-hour schedule over two workweeks for exempt employees only; and staggered start and stop times
