Academic Tutor - Writing Center - Hourly Full Description

Overview: 
The College is seeking a pool of applicants for hourly Academic Tutor positions for the Writing Center at the Lincroft main campus. Responsibilities: 
  • Responsible to tutor individuals/small groups of students in fundamental and advanced areas of writing, including essays, research papers, and other college writing.
  • Responsible for supporting classroom instruction, maintaining records, and supervising use of materials and facilities.
  • Must have the ability to analyze individual student writing needs, develop learning objectives to meet those needs, and monitor student progress
  • Other related duties as assigned.
 
Qualifications: 
Minimum Qualifications: 
 
Education: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in English or closely related field is required.
 
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: 
  • Must have knowledge of word processing.
  • Requires an in-depth knowledge of the process approach to writing instruction, as well as excellent grammar and interpersonal/communication skills.
  • Must have the ability to work with students with special needs and students for whom English is a second language.
 
Preferred Qualifications & Special Considerations:
