The University of Alabama is hiring an ACCESS Teacher - Science for the 2026-2027 academic year on a temporary part-time basis. The teacher delivers web-based instruction to Alabama high school students, manages student progress through a learning management system, grades assignments, and communicates regularly with students and facilitators to ensure effective course delivery.
Highlights
Provide web-based science instruction to Alabama high school students through the ACCESS Virtual Learning Initiative.
Maintain daily engagement with the learning management system, monitor student participation, and grade assignments.
Communicate regularly with facilitators, students, counselors, and school administrators regarding student progress and course activities.
Must hold a Bachelor's degree and a teaching certificate issued by the Alabama State Department of Education.
Certification required to teach grades 6–12 in Alabama or be accredited faculty at an approved institution of higher education.
Complete fingerprint/background checks as required by the Alabama State Department of Education.
Familiarity with learning management systems, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and strong internet skills.
Experience teaching AP courses requires AP training and College Board approval of syllabi.
Preferred candidates have three years of teaching experience in Alabama or significant accomplishments in teaching, with knowledge of K-12 public schools.
Position is temporary, part-time with no benefits offered, and eligible for remote work subject to university policy.
