Primary Responsibilities
  • Identify and research potential customers within the assigned territory through prospecting, cold calling, networking events, and attendance at trade shows.
  • Build and nurture long-term, strategic relationships with clients through regular meetings, phone calls, site visits, and proactive communication.
  • Conduct in-person sales visits and presentations to K–12 schools and districts, including meetings with teachers, department heads, and C-level education executives.
  • Understand each client’s world language program goals, challenges, and timelines, and act as a trusted advisor by recommending tailored solutions from Wayside’s portfolio.
  • Prepare and present comprehensive proposals, including product recommendations, pricing, timelines, and service packages, in alignment with client needs.
  • Guide clients through onboarding and product implementation in collaboration with the customer success and support teams to ensure smooth transitions and lasting satisfaction.
  • Develop and maintain strategic account plans for key clients, continuously identifying opportunities for account expansion and revenue growth.
  • Serve as the voice of the customer, advocating for client needs internally and collaborating with marketing, product, and operations teams to align solutions and services.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, competitor offerings, and market developments to maintain a deep understanding of the world language education landscape.
  • Achieve and exceed assigned sales targets, driving revenue growth and market share within your territory.
  • Maintain detailed and up-to-date client records, sales pipeline stages, and activity logs in Salesforce to support accurate forecasting and reporting.
  • Travel approximately 50% of the time, which may include monthly flights, strategic territory mapping, and overnight visits, in adherence to the approved travel budget.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned to support sales growth and client success.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of proven success in a field sales or outside sales role, preferably in a B2B or educational environment.
  • Strong sales acumen, including prospecting, relationship-building, negotiation, and closing skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, with a talent for building trust and credibility with diverse stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and driven to achieve measurable results and exceed sales targets.
  • Skilled at managing a dynamic schedule, prioritizing tasks, and navigating independently while traveling.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) and with marketing automation platforms (Pardot experience is a plus).
  • Proficiency in Salesforce (or equivalent CRM) for managing sales pipelines, customer relationships, and activity reporting.
  • Analytical mindset, with the ability to interpret data and customer insights to refine sales strategies and territory plans.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel extensively within the assigned region, including overnight trips and air travel as needed.
