Job Summary  | The Accountant II will provide accounting support for the College of Science Dean’s Office which includes a number of organizational processes such as reconciling statements, analyzing reports, monitoring the shared cosbom email, budget transfers, monitoring cost centers and projects. This position requires the ability to exercise initiative and independent judgement, including working effectively with all levels of staff, faculty, and administration.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities  | Prepares and analyzes financial reports to facilitate in decision-making for the college. Meets monthly with College Business Officer (CBO), Business Operations Manager (BOM) and departmental staff to discuss cost center balances and other financial issues that might arise. Assists administrative staff with monitoring the College of Science shared email inbox. This includes: Reviewing emails that are sent to the shared inbox and helping to assign tasks to the correct staff for processing. Monitoring the Teams task board to ensure that tasks are being created and processed in a timely manner. Coding emails and saving backup documents to properly secure historical data. Answering questions and responding to issues that arise.  Manages reconciliation of statements for cost centers and projects in Sahara for the Dean of Science. Will follow-up on correction requests and resolves any discrepancies. Indirectly supervises and trains two Administrative Assistant II positions. This includes: Is a subject matter expert for all the processes that the Administrative Assistant II’s perform. Works with BOM to train Administrative Assistants on standard Team task creation techniques. Answers questions and provides guidance on tasks. May delegate work during peak times to ensure all incoming tasks are processed efficiently. Works with BOM to create, implement, and continuously improve standardized processes for delivering administrative support services. Provides guidance on new policies and procedures as they are issued. Assists CBO and BOM with annual Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) budget process preparation. Processes budget transfers and monitors costs centers and projects within the college. Provides backup to Administrative Assistant II’s for processing travel authorizations, expense reports, requisitions, purchase orders, vouchers, and Procard reconciliation. Serves as a liaison between the Dean’s office and other departments within the college regarding financial, budgetary, or administrative processes. Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications  | Bachelor’s degree in accounting. Three (3) years of experience in accounting or an equivalent mix of education and relevant experience in similar role. Average knowledge in Excel.
Preferred Qualifications  | Three (3) years of experience in a large academic department or relevant experience in similar role. Experience with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook). Experience with PeopleSoft, UT Share, or similar software. Knowledge of university policies and procedures.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities  | Excellent organizational and customer service skills. Attention to Detail. Ability to be flexible to the needs of the office.
