Required Qualifications: Applicants must specifically address how they meet these required qualifications to meet the requirements of the position.  | Education: A bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Accounting, Finance or a related business major with 12 or more hours of accounting coursework  ORTwelve hours or more in accounting coursework from an accredited four-year college or university plus qualifying experience described below. Experience may substitute for the required education on a year for year basis.
Work Experience: Financial accounting, reporting, and analysis experience including the preparation of financial statements or supporting schedules; Reconciliation preparation experience including the ability to work with different file formats and reconcile them to accounting records; Knowledge of professional standards, financial reporting and accounting theory; Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to prioritize competing projects; High level of problem-solving ability; Strong oral and written communications skills including the ability to work effectively and independently with all levels of staff and management; Extensive experience and proficiency in Excel and automated accounting systems; including the ability to extract and work with large data sets.
Preferred Qualifications  | Familiarity with governmental accounting GAAP requirements; Familiarity with Comptroller of Public Accounts financial reporting guidelines Experience with an ERP system (SAP, Banner, Peoplesoft); Certified Public Accountant (currently licensed) Masters of Accountancy from an accredited college or university Experience in Accounts Receivable systems and the billing process.
Job Description  | Financial Reporting & Analysis performs professional accounting functions directly related to the integrity of the university’s financial reporting, prepares moderately complex account reconciliations, resolves and corrects outstanding reconciling items through research, inquiry, and journal entries, ensures compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and other authoritative guidance, performs duties according to established procedures, and prepares periodic financial statements, journal entries, various ad-hoc reports, and on-demand analysis. Evening and weekend hours are necessary during month and fiscal year-end close-out.
Job Duties  | Responsible for the monthly journal entries, reconciliation and analysis of a variety of accounts, and handling of and compliance with unclaimed property, including holder reports.Review and analyze general ledger accounts for integrity as well as compliance with applicable principles, standards, guidelines, policies and procedures.Identify, prepare and submit various moderately complex journal entries and adjustments in the university’s accounting system (SAP) and assist in the preparation of periodic financial statements.

Assist with the completion of the Annual Financial Report (AFR).Prepare accounts receivable billings for other departments and components in the university system. Train other departments within the university on the use of the accounts receivable module. Extract data, analyze financial transactions and reports.Work as a team member to facilitate cross-training and perform duties necessary for the effective operation of the department.
