Required Qualifications: Applicants must specifically address how they meet these required qualifications to meet the requirements of the position. | Analytical skills: ability to visualize, articulate, and solve problems and concepts, and make sound decisions based on available information Three years of accounting experience, including exposure to IRS 1099 regulations Strong organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize and manage multiple competing tasks Experienced in Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, and PowerPoint Experienced in communicating clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing Experienced in working independently to complete deliverables and resolve end-user issues
Preferred Qualifications | Graduation from an accredited four-year college/university with a degree in accounting, finance, or closely related field Experienced in the use of an Enterprise System (e.g., SAP) Experience with digital imaging system software Experience with governmental accounting Skilled at reading, interpreting, and policy compliance
Job Description | The Accountant III performs advanced professional accounting tasks using a thorough understanding of generally accepted accounting principles to solve complex problems. The Accountant III may also be primarily responsible for a segment of the General Accounting operation, or a specialized complex area.
Job Duties | Update and maintain procedures Identify, test, and validate process enhancements Assist with Enterprise System issues and identify corrective actions Process asset and liability general ledger reconciliations Complete annual State of Texas reporting Maintain website resources Read and interpret laws, regulations, and policies and procedures for compliance Serve as a backup for Accounts Payable and Travel staff Ensure the annual 1099 IRS filings are accurate and timely filed. This includes functions related to the 1099 process such as monthly data reconciliations, revisions for tax law changes, Tax Identification Number matching, non-cash reportable items, 1099 corrections and returns, and other functions directly related to the 1099 process. Ensure digital records are reviewed, reconciled, and managed according to University Retention Guidelines. Perform other duties as assigned
