Job Description

HERE'S WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THIS ROLE:

You will be…
• Joining the Student Affairs Finance and Planning team; a department of business-minded individuals who are transformative and service oriented.
• Reporting to the Assistant Director for Accounts Payable for Student Affairs in a regular twelve-month, staff appointment.
• Responsible for processing invoices according to policies, reconciling vendor statements, assisting in the monthly reconciliation of encumbrances, and supporting daily office functions.
• Operating various computer systems, platforms, and networks.
• Communicating with internal and external customers to foster productive working relationships, meet deadlines, and cultivate a culture of compliance and financial stewardship.
• Producing work, independently and within a team, that is detail and quality driven, as well as, action and solution focused.
• Offered a base compensation package between $50,000-$55,000, along with a comprehensive benefits package that includes health insurance, paid leave, retirement, tuition assistance, VT discounts, and so much more!

Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree in accounting or related field or equivalent years of relevant experience.
- Previous experience in preparing purchasing documents, processing accounts payable, verifying and analyzing data and reconciling vendor statements.
- Experience with Windows, Microsoft Office Products, and electronic mail.
- Experience handling time-sensitive and confidential records.
- Previous customer service experience with a broad customer base.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Banner and HokieMart, or other accounting software.
- Experience with Commonwealth of Virginia purchasing procedures.
- Proven ability to perform in a fast-paced, high-volume environment with frequent interruptions.
- Experience working independently with limited supervision.
