The University of Idaho’s Auxiliary Services focuses on providing quality products and services to university students, faculty and the greater community. Units include: Administrative Operations, Campus Services, Dining Services, Golf Course, Housing and Residence Life, Parking and Transportation, and the VandalStore. By aggregating these services, the University realizes substantial operating efficiencies and the ability to best serve students, faculty and staff.

Position Overview 
The position manages and represents a distinct accounting unit internally and externally, coordinating initiatives and problem resolution with other units. The position oversees, manages and/or supervises the operation of assigned areas involved with various accounting functions; maintains and monitors effective internal controls to ensure accurate financial information, safeguards University assets, and complies with regulations, accounting standards, and University policy; develops and implements strategic planning consistent with the University’s mission and strategic plan; approves, develops, and/or implements methods, procedures, controls, systems, and standards for efficient, effective, timely and accurate operations; conducts general analysis and recommends and implements policy and procedures to improve related accounting and administrative functions; performs a variety of complex accounting functions.

Duties may include: Make decisions regarding hiring, training, evaluation, promotion and termination of employees Plan, direct, organize and schedule the activities of one or more specialized accounting functions Analyze, develop and document accounting and cost procedures and controls related to assigned tasks Research, interpret and monitor compliance with local, state and federal regulations and University policies; prepare or review required returns or reports Provide operating cost visibility, direction and consultation to University officials relative to fiscal planning, control, and expending of university assets Prepare and/or direct the preparation of financial reports, special statistical reports, detailed cost accounting information, surveys or analyses of a complex and difficult nature for management Provide internal/external training both orally and in writing on accounting systems, procedures and practices Interpret accounting data, analyze reports and recommend and/or initiate actions to be taken Develop and maintain collaborations and communications across financial units and the University to coordinate and facilitate the unit’s work Develop and maintain effective communications and reporting to external stakeholders, such as State Board of Education, and regulatory agencies. Position Qualifications 
Required Experience  | Five years of professional accounting experience Two years of experience in support of managing financial records, analyzing and interpreting information and ensuring compliance Experience supervising the work of others or leading a team to accomplish assigned goals

Required Education  | Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or equivalent OR Master’s degree in Accounting
