General Information:
James Madison University’s Facilities Management is seeking an Accounting Supervisor. This position will effectively supervise departmental accounting functions which will include university maintenance, construction project payables and cost tracking. This position is a M-F daylight position but may be asked to temporarily work another shift based on business needs.
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
•Managing, supervising and performing accounting functions for Facilities Management and the Athletic Facilities both daily and monthly
•Supervising and performing daily accounting activities for parking lot, maintenance, special projects and reserve projects
•Ensuring departmental payroll actions are tracked and maintained daily based off FM and JMU’s policies and procedures
•Reviewing and submitting purchase transactions and verifying the accuracy of account information
•Providing effective supervision to employees which will include communication of important information regularly and consistently
 
Qualifications:
Required
•Knowledge of accounting principles and practices
•Understanding the relationship of expenditures and encumbrances to a budget
•Knowledge of automated accounting and facility maintenance data management systems
•Understanding how to utilize spreadsheets
•Ability to compile, analyze and interpret data
•Knowledge on preparing financial reports and clearly presenting data
•Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing
•Ability to detect and correct accounting data problems
•Ability to supervise effectively and organize work tasks
•Ability to document to audit standards
