Adaptive Physical Education Teacher - Online (Louisiana) Full Description

Job DescriptionThe Adaptive Physical Education (APE) Teacher - CONTRACTOR is responsible for providing virtual adaptive physical education services to eligible special education students enrolled in virtual public schools within the STAGES/Stride network. Services are provided in accordance with students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and may include evaluations, direct services, consultation, records reviews, and participation in special education processes.

The APE Teacher collaborates with students, families, educators, therapists, and multidisciplinary teams to promote access to physical education, motor skill development, physical fitness, and participation in age-appropriate physical activities within home and community environments.

This is an Independent Contractor position (1099).
Residency Requirements: Must reside in the U.S.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Conduct adaptive physical education evaluations and reevaluations.
• Review educational records, assessment data, medical information, therapy reports, and other documentation.
• Prepare evaluation reports and present findings to IEP teams.
• Provide virtual direct adaptive physical education services per IEP requirements.
• Develop individualized goals and objectives.
• Consult with families, teachers, therapists, and service providers.
• Recommend modifications, accommodations, and adaptive strategies.
• Participate in eligibility, evaluation, annual review, and reevaluation meetings.
• Maintain service logs, progress monitoring data, and reports.
• Monitor and report progress toward IEP goals.
• Maintain compliance with federal, state, and school regulations.
• Utilize virtual platforms and technology tools to deliver services.
• Maintain a professional work environment and dependable schedule.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position has no formal supervisory responsibilities.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum of 2 years of experience providing Adaptive Physical Education services to students with disabilities in educational settings.
• Experience conducting evaluations, records reviews, and developing individualized recommendations.
• Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and participating in the IEP process.

Certificates and Licenses:
• Valid teaching certificate in accordance with state requirements.
• Louisiana Department of Education (LDOE) Adapted Physical Education Endorsement required.
• Ability to maintain all required credentials and endorsements throughout the duration of the contract.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience providing services within virtual, online, or remote educational environments.
• Experience conducting virtual evaluations, consultations, and direct services.
• Knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
• Strong communication, organization, and time management skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and virtual meeting platforms.
• Ability to pass background checks.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position is primarily remote and requires the ability to provide services from a professional home office environment. Virtual service delivery may include evaluations, consultations, direct services, records reviews, team meetings, and documentation activities.
