Admissions Counselor Full Description

Job Description
Admissions Counselors will report to the Director of Recruitment and work
closely with the Travel and Events Manager. Working collaboratively with a team of directors and counselors, Admissions Counselors will plan, implement, and administer programs and initiatives designed to target, recruit, and enroll students in undergraduate degree programs.
Key responsibilities include:
*Extensive recruitment travel and management of a travel territory (including evening, weekend, and extended overnight travel)
*Conducting recruitment presentations in high schools, community centers, and attending college fairs across the country
*Assisting with the coordination and execution of admissions and university affiliated events and programming
*Serving as an ambassador for Virginia Tech to visiting prospective students and families
*Advising potential first-year and transfer students on admissions procedures, policies, and pathways
*Assisting with the review of applications for admission independently and as a committee member
This position requires some evening and weekend work (about once a month) and out of town travel (approximately up to five full or partial weeks each fall and three partial weeks each spring).
Required Qualifications
*Bachelor's degree 
*Demonstrated organizational skills to accommodate multiple priorities.
*Exemplary interpersonal, communication and presentation skills with individuals and large groups.
*Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office or comparable software.
Preferred Qualifications
*Preference given to graduate level candidates with admissions experience or experience in other related fields
