Primary Function of Organizational Unit
The Office of Undergraduate of Admissions recruits, admits, and serves an eligible, diverse student population regionally, nationally, and internationally. It embraces the university’s commitment to attain the quality of students who are able to matriculate and graduate. The Office of Undergraduate Admissions also maintains the integrity of the admissions process; thus ensuring efficient and systematic evaluation of credentials. Through multiple recruitment strategies, the Office of Undergraduate Admissions works to ensure that eligible students have access to higher education.
Primary Purpose of Position
The Undergraduate Admissions at North Carolina Central University is seeking candidates to fill a position of Admissions Counselor.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Serves as a member of the Admissions Team managing a recruitment territory to assist in achieving enrollment objectives for the university; Reviews, authenticates and makes offical admissions decisions on behalf of the university; Conducts research on assigned territories and performs analysis of admissions eligibilty; Implements recruitment strategies as outlined in the admissions plan in the assigned territory to include high school and community college visits;
Minimum Education/Experience
A Bachelor’s degree, outstanding public speaking, oral and written skills, excellent computer skills, outstanding customer service skills and a valid driver’s license.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties
Function Administrative
Describe the specific tasks and responsibilities related to the function.
Travel for the Office of Undergraduate Admissions which includes managing the annual recruitment calendar, responding to 500+ travel requests from internal and external respondents, processing event payments, corresponding with alumni to assist with recruitment efforts, and utilizing data to inform decisions under the direction of the Associate Director’s strategic plans for recruitment.
Function Research
Describe the specific tasks and responsibilities related to the function.
Collect, analyze and interpret data with direction of Associate Director to produce annual travel and campus tour reports. Assist in long range planning and goal setting specifically related to campus visit programs.
Function Public Service
Describe the specific tasks and responsibilities related to the function.
Recruit students and manage applicant records within an assigned geographic territory, in-state and/or Out-of-state travel may be required during the fall and spring
