As a primary ambassador for the University, the Admissions Counselor represents USCB throughout South Carolina, across the nation, and internationally while guiding prospective students through every stage of the enrollment journey—from first inquiry to becoming a proud Sand Shark.
You’ll develop innovative recruitment strategies, cultivate strong partnerships with schools, military installations, community organizations, and international partners, and provide personalized guidance that helps students confidently navigate the admissions process.

What You’ll Do
  • Develop and implement strategic recruitment plans focused on special populations, including military-connected students, veterans, international students, and other targeted enrollment initiatives.
  • Manage an assigned recruitment territory while building meaningful relationships with prospective students, families, school counselors, military education offices, community organizations, and campus partners.
  • Represent USCB at college fairs, military education events, community programs, international recruitment opportunities, and targeted outreach events.
  • Guide prospective students through every stage of the admissions process, providing individualized support from inquiry through enrollment.
  • Establish recruitment goals for assigned populations, including inquiries, applications, campus visits, admissions, and enrollment conversions.
  • Deliver engaging presentations that effectively communicate the value of a USCB education and inspire students to become part of the Sand Shark community.
  • Utilize CRM technology to manage prospective student communications, recruitment activities, and enrollment pipelines.
  • Coordinate recruitment travel, manage travel schedules, and oversee travel budgets.
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and campus departments to create exceptional recruitment experiences and strengthen enrollment partnerships.
  • Evaluate recruitment outcomes using data and analytics to continuously improve enrollment strategies and student engagement.

The Special Populations Admissions Counselor may:
  • Develop recruitment partnerships with military installations, community organizations, and institutions serving special populations.
  • Travel approximately 5–7 weeks during the fall recruitment season.
  • Travel approximately 2–3 weeks during the spring recruitment season.

Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience
Requires a bachelor’s degree in a job related field and 1 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience.
Required Certification, Licensure/Other Credentials
A valid driver’s license in good standing.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in admissions counseling, sales, or customer service preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Must have strong interpersonal skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills. Skilled at public relations and public presentation, knowledge of CRM programs for tracking from inquiry to enrollment, and knowledge of marketing and advertising strategies. Excellent presentation, communication skills, and an ability to articulate the value of USCB enrollment and degrees. Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and the internet a must. Must be willing to travel in and out of state extensively. Able to drive and; must be insurable.

Uses technical resources and predictive modeling to make informed decisions about student applications and outreach. Build authentic relationships with prospective students and stakeholders by serving as a knowledgeable, responsive, and student-centered point of contact.

Monitor recruitment and enrollment progress by tracking student interactions, maintaining accurate records in CRM and student information systems, reviewing applications, and using data to support enrollment goals and improve conversion strategies. Conduct proactive student engagement through phone calls, text messaging, emails, virtual appointments, and in-person meetings to guide students through the admissions process, address barriers, and support application completion and enrollment conversion.
