Admissions Representative Full Description

Department Overview:

Come join our team in the Office of Admissions and Recruitment within the Division of Enrollment Management at UW-Madison. We are admissions professionals dedicated to recruiting, admitting and enrolling the next generation of UW-Madison undergraduates.

Schedule:

We are seeking students who can work in-person up to 20 hours per week over the summer, and 10-12 hours per week during the school year. Flexibility for increased hours during high volume peaks in the application season is a plus, but not required. Shifts will occur between 8:15am-4:15pm, Monday through Friday. One evening per month is required for mandatory staff meetings.

Preference is given to students who are available to work in Madison over the summer and will continue at UW-Madison for at least three consecutive semesters.

Qualifications:

-Previous experience working in customer service or with the public is preferred
-UW-Madison Undergraduate student in good academic standing
-We are looking for students who can start this summer and will continue at UW-Madison for at least three consecutive semesters.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

-Effective communicator, including written and oral communication skills
-Ability to adapt quickly to new technology such as call center software, student database software (PeopleSoft), Salesforce, Teams, Zoom, new applications and programs, etc.
-Self-motivated, detail-oriented and a team player
-Open to feedback, and ability to adapt to change
-Knowledgeable about the university and campus life
-Maintain confidentiality with documents and information
-Willing to perform other assigned tasks

Position Summary/Job Duties:

Admissions Representatives assist prospective students and families with questions about how to apply, admissions requirements, deadlines, application materials, as well as campus visits and general information about the University.

Job Responsibilities:
-Answer incoming phone calls and emails from prospective students and families.
-Staff OAR front desk and assist with in-person visitor questions.
-Provide timely and accurate answers to all questions.
-Stay current with changes to the admissions process and other office-wide and team updates.
-Apply personal experiences and knowledge of the university to answer questions from prospective families and students.
-Maintain confidentiality and compliance with FERPA laws regarding sensitive information provided by prospective students while handling their individual cases and assistance requests
-Potential to create and support projects that benefit the Office of Admissions and Recruitment

The possibility for advancement in hourly wage exists for students who stay with the office more than one semester.
