Ai Platform Engineer Full Description

About Product School:

Product School is the global leader in product training, with a thriving community of over two million professionals. We offer live, online certifications taught by Product Leaders from top Silicon Valley companies like Google, Meta, Netflix, and Amazon.

In addition to certifications, we host ProductCon, the world’s largest product management conference, and produce The Product Podcast, a leading podcast for product professionals.

Founded in 2014, Product School was bootstrapped for the first 7 years before raising $25 million from Leeds Illuminate. We are proud to be a profitable, fast-growing company shaping the future of education.

The Role:

We are looking for an AI-native engineer to join our Platform team and help evolve our systems, workflows and internal tooling towards an AI-first model.  We aren’t looking for someone to just maintain the status quo.  We are looking for an AI Platform Engineer—a true builder whose primary obsession is automation. We need someone who looks at a manual workflow or a complex system interaction and immediately thinks, "An autonomous agent should handle this."  This role is not about adding isolated AI features. It is about redesigning how automation, integrations and operational workflows work by leveraging modern AI capabilities.  You will build intelligent systems, agents and internal tools that interact with our existing ecosystem, automate business logic and enable new operational capabilities across the company.  We are looking for someone whose instinct is to automate, experiment and build pragmatic AI-driven solutions.

What you'll do:

  • Design and implement AI-driven automation across systems and workflows.
  • Build autonomous or semi-autonomous agents capable of interacting with APIs, tools and internal systems.
  • Create internal AI tools to reduce manual work and improve operational efficiency.
  • Identify opportunities to redesign existing processes using AI-first approaches.
  • Rapidly prototype and iterate towards production-ready solutions.
  • Integrate LLM-based capabilities into existing platform architecture.
  • Design lightweight data pipelines or retrieval mechanisms when needed (e.g., RAG patterns).
  • Continuously evaluate emerging AI technologies and incorporate them pragmatically.
  • Collaborate closely with backend engineers, CRM specialists and business stakeholders.

This role could be a good fit for you if:

  • You have a strong AI-native mindset: AI is a core building block in your development process.
  • You have experience building applied AI systems beyond simple prompting.
  • You have the ability to design end-to-end solutions (architecture, integration, delivery).
  • You have experience working with APIs, automation or system integrations.
  • You operate with high autonomy and have an ownership mentality.
  • You have a strong bias towards building and shipping.
  • You naturally think in systems and automation rather than isolated features.
  • You enjoy building tools that eliminate repetitive work.
  • You frequently experiment with new AI capabilities and quickly turn ideas into working prototypes.
  • You see AI as a way to redesign workflows, not just enhance them.
  • You are comfortable navigating ambiguity and defining problems as part of the solution process.
  • You prefer shipping real solutions over discussing theoretical architectures.
  • Bonus Points if you have the following:
    • Experience in agent-based architectures or workflow automation systems.
    • Experience with retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) or knowledge-based systems.
    • Experience with cloud environments (GCP is a plus).
    • Backend engineering experience.
    • Experience with CRM integrations (Salesforce or similar).

The perks:

  • Remote First - our team works remotely across multiple countries and time zones
  • Medical, Dental, and Vision Coverage in the US - support for additional coverage is available in Spain
  • Company Team Offsites and Coworking - we believe that remote-first doesn’t mean remote-only
  • Free Product School Course Offerings - we offer a range of courses and certifications worth $27,000 that we readily encourage our employees to explore
  • Monthly Internet Reimbursement - we support our team, wherever they’re working from
  • Parental leave

We require that candidates be located in the country/countries specified. We are unable to hire outside of the country/countries specified or provide or take over sponsorship at this point in time.  Applicants MUST be authorized to work in the listed country of hire without sponsorship.
