About the Role

As an AI Tutor, you will play a key role in improving AI capabilities by reviewing expert-annotated data using proprietary software. Your academic expertise will directly impact the training of AI models, ensuring accuracy, nuance, and relevance across a wide range of topics. This role requires analytical thinking, adaptability, and a passion for technological advancement.

This is a remote contract position with variable time commitments. The services provided are supplementary and distinct from Handshake’s core business operations.

Day-to-day responsibilities include

  • Utilizing proprietary software to provide accurate feedback to expert AI trainers

  • Ensuring high-quality data curation and contributing to the development of AI models

  • Collaborating with technical teams to refine annotation tools and methodologies

  • Applying general academic and analytical expertise to evaluate AI-generated and human responses

  • Interpreting, analyzing, and reviewing tasks based on evolving instructions

Desired Capabilities

  • PhD or currently enrolled in a PhD program in any discipline (humanities, social sciences, education, law, business, arts, STEM, etc.)

  • Proficiency in both informal and professional English writing

  • Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to navigate various information sources

  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities

  • Ability to make autonomous decisions based on limited data

  • Passion for AI, innovation, and technology

Extra Credit

  • Research experience with published work in a reputable journal
