Illinois State University is hiring an America Reads/America Counts Tutor Specialist. The role involves tutoring children from Preschool through 9th grade in reading and/or math across various locations such as the university campus, local schools, and community centers while participating in mandatory training and submitting regular progress reports.

Tutor children in reading and math from Preschool to 9th grade in both in-person and remote settings.
Participate in paid mandatory training sessions and submit biweekly program reflections.
Write optional lesson plans, progress reports, or create instructional videos, and submit exit plans when providing 1:1 support.
Use skills in Spanish fluency or 4th-9th grade math tutoring to qualify for specific placements.
Required to have Federal Work Study award and maintain at least a 2.5 GPA.
Must provide own transportation for off-campus tutoring sites.
Excellent writing and verbal communication skills and experience working with children required.
Compensation ranges from $15.50 to $17.50 per hour.
Work hours include 4-6 hours per week afternoons/evenings on weekdays and 1-3 hours on Saturdays, based on availability.
Student employees are eligible to participate in the university's 403(b) retirement plan.
