POSITION SPECIFICS​

We are searching for motivated and talented network and communication equipment support specialist to join our Applied Signals & Systems Integration (ASSI) Department at the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State. ARL's purpose is to research and develop innovative solutions to challenging scientific, engineering, and technology problems in support of the Navy and the Department of Defense (DoD).  ASSI tackles multidisciplinary topics from signal processing to machine learning to algorithm design with a focus on sensor systems.

ARL is an authorized DoD SkillBridge partner and welcomes all transitioning military members to apply.

Required skills/experience areas include:

  • Electronics and/or electro-mechanics
  • Past success operating electronic test equipment
  • Demonstrated ability to assemble and test electronic circuitry
  • Proven troubleshooting skills with the ability to spot issues before they become problems
  • Microsoft Office, basic computer tasks, general office computer knowledge

Preferred skills/experience areas include:

  • Navy Electronics Technician rating (ET) with experience with networking and communication equipment
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification
  • Network and communication equipment trouble-shooting experience and skills
  • Linux operating system familiarization
  • A degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, graduation from a technical trade college/vocational technical school, or military experience
  • Internet of Things (IoT) interest and familiarization
  • Active government security clearance
  • Well-organized, independent and ready to work

Your working location will be fully on-site located in State College, PA. Questions related to flexible work should be directed to the hiring manager during the interview process.
