Role Summary (Impact in this Role)
The Applied Instructional Designer translates engineering systems and applications into structured, scalable, and high-impact learning experiences for the MISUMI University Program. This role combines engineering knowledge with instructional design expertise to create curriculum, labs, and digital learning content that align with academic and industry needs.

You will play a critical role in shaping how students learn modern engineering workflows, from component selection to system integration, using MISUMI tools and products.

Areas of Responsibility: Essential Functions
  • Design and develop curriculum, lab modules, and project-based learning experiences based on real engineering systems
  • Transform demo platforms and training kits into structured educational pathways
  • Create instructor guides, student materials, assessments, and digital learning assets
  • Align curriculum with academic standards, accreditation requirements (e.g., ABET), and university program goals
  • Collaborate closely with Applied Content Engineers to ensure technical accuracy and relevance
  • Work with University Applications Engineers to pilot and refine content in live classroom settings
  • Develop scalable delivery formats (in-person, hybrid, and self-paced online learning)
  • Measure learning effectiveness and continuously improve course content based on feedback and outcomes
  • All employees are expected to maintain and contribute to the QMS.

Required Qualifications and Desired Traits
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Education, Instructional Design, or related field
3–5 years of experience in instructional design, curriculum development, or technical training, preferably in a STEM or engineering-focused environment
  • Strong understanding of STEM education principles and project-based learning methodologies
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, engaging, and accessible learning experiences
  • Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS) and digital content development tools
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical and non-technical teams

Physical Demands

The compensation range for this position is $75,000 - $100,000 USD annually based on experience.
