Scope of Job
Oversees and ensures the assessment and accreditation functions of the college with corresponding accrediting agencies and the Office of Institutional Accreditation.
Description of Duties
  • Plans, implements, monitors, analyzes and evaluates comprehensive and coordinated assessment, accreditation, and reporting efforts within the College.
  • Ensures and maintains the college’s accreditation, through compiling and analysis of academic data and programs.
  • Responsible for performing complex analysis for assessment and accreditation data.
  • Monitors and assures compliance with accreditation standards and maintenance of documentation to prepare college accreditation and compliance reports.
  • Oversees academic and administrative unit assessments measured by SACSCOC and college specific standards and ensures the college adheres to any recommendations.
  • Works in collaboration with program area faculty to develop and implement assessment instruments and plans that improve the quality of academic programs and services. Researches and makes recommendations for software and hardware purchases related to this goal.
  • Implements updates and upgrades for electronic platforms used to collect data and report assessment, accreditation, and faculty review activities.
  • Serves as the college’s liaison to UTRGV on assessment and accreditation matters, collaborating effectively with university-level offices responsible for assessment and accreditation.
  • Gathers and evaluates data for analysis and ensures the completion of annual and ad hoc surveys from the accrediting agency.
  • Responsible for documenting the progress on completion of strategic plan goals and objectives for the assigned area.
  • Monitors the college’s contributions to UTRGV’s mission through data collection and analysis.
  • Collects and reports annual standing committee memberships.
  • Creates, maintains and modifies complex statistical reports to be used for accrediting agency Standards Tables.
  • Informs administration, faculty, and staff on accreditation and assessment changes and issues pertaining to the college, and provides training when necessary on the data collected.
  • Establishes and maintains working relationships with organizational peers, serves on committees, ensures that department responds to institutional requests and completes projects in a timely fashion.
  • Advises the Dean and Associate Deans on matters related to assessment, accreditation, program review, and continuing approval. Advocates for continuous improvements in support of accreditation goals and recommendations from the accrediting agency.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Master’s degree from an accredited university.
Preferred Education
Master’s degree in Business Administration, Data Analytics, or related field from an accredited university.

Required Experience
Two (2) years of experience performing and coordinating academic assessment and evaluation activities. Knowledge of the standards for accreditation as amended from time to time by SACSCOC or other accrediting agencies.
Preferred Experience
Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in the areas of assessment and accreditation, outcomes assessment, institutional research, data analysis, and report preparation.

Use of standard office equipment.. Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneDrive, SharePoint, and Teams).
Working Conditions
Needs to be able to successfully perform all required duties. Office Environment; some travel and weekend work is required. UTRGV is a distributed institution, which requires presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley. Work is performed primarily in a general office environment.

Knowledge of assessment and accreditation standards such as SACSOC. Knowledge of academic programs. Strong verbal and communication skills in writing and persuasion. The ability to apply standards and policies to sets of facts. Proficiency in data analytics tools such as Microsoft Excel, Power BI, Tableau, and SQL.
