Description  | Reporting to the Director of Budget and Administrative Services. The Assistant Budget Director supports the financial planning and administrative operations of the Facilities and Operations Department.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Assists in the development and management of operating and capital budgets. Monitors expenditures to ensure budget compliance and fiscal responsibility. Conducts financial analysis and prepares budget forecasts to support decision-making. Prepares financial reports and summaries for senior leadership. Supports procurement activities and contract administration processes. Supervises the accounts payable desk, including invoice processing, payment approvals, vendor coordination, and compliance with financial policies. Maintains accurate financial records and documentation. Identifies opportunities to improve financial processes and departmental workflows. Ensures compliance with institutional policies, procedures, and financial guidelines. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications  | Bachelor’s degree required. At least five or more years of professional work experience required within a higher education, facilities and operations environment. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Banner HPRO, and related software tools. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment and collaborate effectively with team members. Must be available to work early mornings, evenings, and weekends during busy periods as needed.

Preferred Qualifications  | Master’s degree preferred. Two or more years of experience in purchasing, bidding, contracts, and business operations is strongly desired. Experience operating in a high-stress, fast-paced environment focused on customer success and service to an academic institution is highly valued. Superior proficiency with Microsoft Office products, such as Excel, is preferred. Proficiency with BudgetPak and TMA Systems a plus.

Hofstra University provides the above salary* as a good faith estimate of the starting pay range which considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience and education.
