Job Summary | Bowdoin College invites applications for an Assistant Dean of Admissions who will play a key role in recruiting and enrolling a diverse, talented student body. This position is ideal for a highly organized, energetic, and student‑centered professional who is passionate about the value of a liberal arts education and enjoys building meaningful relationships with students, families, counselors, and community partners.
The Assistant Dean contributes to all facets of the admissions process, including reviewing applications, interviewing prospective students, managing a recruitment territory, and representing the College through travel and public presentations. The role will have it’s own admission project responsibilities as well as assisting with department-wide initiatives. Successful candidates will bring strong communication and organizational skills, and the ability to balance attention to detail with a strategic, big‑picture perspective.
This position requires flexibility, frequent travel, and evening and weekend availability during peak admissions cycles. Bowdoin seeks candidates who are enthusiastic about admissions work, skilled at engaging students from all backgrounds, and committed to advancing the College’s mission of access, inclusion, and academic excellence.
The hiring range for this position is expected to be: $60, 500 – 64,500.

Experience Requirements and/or Equivalents | A minimum of one year of relevant recruitment experience required. Specific experience in a private liberal arts college or in selective college advising is preferred. An understanding and enthusiasm for admissions work and its cyclical nature as well as an appreciation working with high school and college students. A valid driver’s license and the ability to comply with the College’s Motor Vehicle Policy is required.
Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications in this posting to be considered for hire.Standard Work Days and Hours | Standard administrative hours are 8:30am – 5:00pm. This is an exempt level position that requires the time commitment to complete the essential duties of the position. Long hours and frequent weekend and evening work required during peak periods. Travel is a necessary component of this position.
