The College of Science seeks an experienced academic advising professional who will help lead a dedicated team of advisors and contribute to exemplary academic advising services for undergraduate students pursuing a Computational Science or Actuarial Science program at our Purdue West Lafayette Indianapolis location. Essential Function of Position
Academic Administrative Duties
• Serve on the advising leadership team; supervise and evaluate academic advisors, provide mentoring, administrative, and training support.
• Closely collaborate with the Associate Director of Academic Advising and Operations at the Indianapolis location and report to the Computational Sciences Associate Director of Academic
Advising at the Indianapolis location.
• Work closely with the Associate Dean for Purdue in Indianapolis STEM Education to ensure course offerings and academic support meet student needs and demand.
• Manage administrative tasks and outcomes; prepare administrative reports and documents.
• Develop work plans, policies and reports in accordance with established unit and department objectives.
• Act as a liaison and maintain a consistent pattern of contact and communication with location partners in support of student success initiatives.
Advising
• Advise undergraduate students to ensure they have the resources, guidance, and opportunities necessary to achieve their highest potential.
• Apply an asset-based approach that values students’ unique identities and strengths
• Empower students to be active, responsible learners and assist them in making well-informed decisions.
• Guide students in course selection and the process of registering for courses.
• Identify campus activities and program opportunities related to students' majors.
• Use data to provide timely outreach to students on their academic progress and conduct audits on students’ degree progress.
• Assess when a student’s situation requires referral to campus resources.
• Maintain and ensure the confidentiality of student records.
• Teach students about the university’s structure, systems, policies, and practices.

What We're Looking For
Education and Experience
- Master’s degree in higher education, academic advising, education, or a related field
- Minimum four years of experience in academic advising or student services, including demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience
- Knowledge of post-secondary academic systems and student development theory; ability to model the core values of NACADA
Skills Required:
- Strong leadership and management skills, including supervision, work scheduling, prioritization, coaching, planning, and process execution
- Demonstrated ability to lead collaborative initiatives and build consensus among faculty, staff, students, parents, and other stakeholders
- Excellent communication skills, including verbal, public speaking, writing, and active listening
- Strong organizational, project management, and customer service skills with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make data-informed decisions
- Experience executing departmental initiatives and working effectively across diverse constituencies
- Proficiency in student information systems and administrative platforms (e.g., DegreeWorks, Banner, Edunav, Slate, Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook) and ability to support their use by advising staff
- Demonstrated accountability, adaptability, and ability to thrive in a dynamic, team-oriented environment while building and sustaining professional relationships
