The Assistant Director of Clinical Administration serves a pivotal role in the management of licensed clinical staff and their associated administrative duties within Counseling Services with the goal of delivering high-quality mental health services to students at USC Upstate. This position includes a combination of clinical supervision, the provision of direct clinical services, and administrative responsibilities. This position serves on the department’s leadership team and reports to the Clinical Director.
Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience | Requires a bachelor’s degree in a job related field and 3 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience.
Required Certification, Licensure/Other Credentials | Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of South Carolina.
Preferred Qualifications | A Master’s degree in counseling, psychology, counselor education or related field with a minimum of Minimum of 3 years of professional clinical counseling experience, ideally in a college/university or similar setting.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities | Successful background check is required. Strong leadership, supervision, and clinical skills; ability to manage programs, analyze data, and prepare reports; effective communication and crisis management; commitment to confidentiality, ethics, and supporting diverse student populations.
Job Duties
Job Duty | Clinical Administration:· Direct daily operations of Counseling Services by coordinating schedules, approving leave requests, and ensuring clinic coverage with minimal disruption.
· Conduct annual performance evaluations for licensed clinicians, providing structured feedback to enhance service delivery.
· Collaborate with leadership to assess training needs and connect staff to professional development resources.
· Maintain clear communication with staff regarding clinic policies, workflow updates, and operational priorities.

· Oversee case conceptualization, treatment planning, and documentation, ensuring alignment with professional and ethical standards.

· Contribute to programmatic improvements in staff development and training initiatives within Counseling Services.
