Job Description  | Syracuse University seeks an assistant director to join its domestic field programs team. As a representative of Syracuse University, the incumbent will contribute to identifying, attracting, and enrolling a talented and diverse student body. In addition, the incumbent will join a high functioning team responsible for overseeing office-wide domestic recruitment initiatives and events.

The assistant director will oversee domestic recruitment travel planning and strategy. They will also manage a significant recruitment territory and will be responsible to evaluate and recommend candidates for admission.
Education and Experience  | Three (3+) plus years’ experience in selective college admissions or a closely related role. Bachelor’s degree required. Valid US driver’s license.
Skills and Knowledge  | Highly effective communication skills and ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and delegate across teams. Comfortable working with all age groups, from prospective students to faculty, alumni and parents. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; experience in event planning. Capability to deliver key recruitment messages and articulate the value of a Syracuse University education through presentations, conversation, and written text. Ability to read and evaluate applications for admission as a member of a high-performing team. Proficiency with technology including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office Suite, Zoom, Slate/customer relationship management software, Naviance/Rep Visits, SCOIR. Attention to detail, organization, and the ability to manage multiple competing priorities. Proficiency in data management and CRM systems. Availability and willingness to travel within the US. Availability and willingness to work in-person at the worksite. Availability and willingness to cover on-campus events on evenings and weekends as necessary.

Responsibilities 
Assist the development and implement office-wide strategy for domestic recruitment travel including college fairs, school visits, off-campus yield programs, group travel, and other events as appropriate. Assist the director with gathering and analyzing demographic and educational trend data to recommend decisions for outreach supporting Syracuse University’s enrollment goals. Manage a robust recruitment territory and travel 6-8 weeks annually attending school visits, college fairs, and other recruitment events. Build relationships with counselors, CBOs and other entities in assigned territory. Effectively communicate the value of a Syracuse University experience through in-person and virtual presentations, interviews, phone/email communication, professional conferences, and other recruitment events. Identify, recruit, and enroll qualified candidates for admission in concert with Syracuse University’s enrollment goals. Provide students, families and counselors with comprehensive and accurate information about Syracuse University. Read and evaluate applications for admission and recommend admissions decisions for assigned programs in support of University enrollment goals and priorities. Support projects such as specialized recruitment initiatives, large admissions events and daily campus visits.
