Pay Range Information  | Chapman University is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this position. This range takes into account a variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. Salary offers are determined based on the final candidate’s qualifications and experience, as well as internal equity and other internal factors. Position Summary Information 
Job Description Summary  | The Assistant Director of Student and Recent Alumni Engagement plays a key role in supporting Chapman University’s engagement and philanthropic goals by fostering meaningful connections between students, recent graduates, and the university community. Working under the direction of the Director of Alumni Engagement, this position develops and implements programs and initiatives that strengthen the student-to-alumni transition, inspire a culture of engagement and philanthropy, and cultivate lasting relationships with students and young alumni.

Responsibilities  | Young Alumni Engagement: Cultivate meaningful alumni relationships through personalized outreach and individual/small group visits that deepen engagement and strengthen connections to the university. Maintain a portfolio of alumni for ongoing cultivation and engagement. Partner with the Director of Alumni Engagement to design a comprehensive young alumni engagement strategy; execute a portfolio of initiatives designed to foster a culture of pride, awareness, community and philanthropy in recent graduates, including events, educational programming, volunteer opportunities, communications, and giving. Collaborate with the Engagement & Volunteerism team and campus partners to identify meaningful ways for alumni to engage with the Chapman community. Recruit alumni volunteers for involvement in key initiatives including admissions, career and professional development, and annual giving. Partner with the Annual Giving team on initiatives that foster a culture of philanthropy and drive alumni participation in giving. Solicit young alumni for annual gifts as requested. Collaborate with the Alumni Engagement team and the Strategic Marketing and Communications team (SMC) to plan and execute a comprehensive digital engagement strategy for recent graduates, including social media, email, text, and video. Coordinate with the Office of Career and Professional Development on career and digital programming as requested. Support campus partners in enhancing young alumni outreach and programming through shared resources and collaboration. Track constituent outreach and engagement and establish clear metrics and goals under the supervision of the Director; meet goals by increasing engagement and participation over time. Serve as a staff liaison to Alumni Association Board committees as assigned. 
Student Engagement:Partner with the Office of Student Engagement to create and support opportunities that strengthen student–alumni connections and encourage a smooth transition for our newest graduates. Develop and oversee the Student Philanthropy and Engagement Council, including member recruitment, engagement, programming, and communications. Partner with the Director of Alumni Engagement and the Annual Giving team to design and execute initiatives that introduce students to the impact of philanthropy, inspire early giving participation, and promote a lifelong connection to their alma mater. Build and maintain relationships with key student leaders/organizations (e.g., Student Government Association, Greek Life, and affinity groups) to embed alumni and philanthropic engagement into student life. Partner with organizations to identify opportunities to engage alumni in campus traditions and in meaningful ways to support the student experience. Represent the Office of Alumni Engagement at signature student events, as requested.

Required Qualifications  | Bachelor’s degree required. Minimum of 3 years of experience in alumni relations, student engagement, development, higher education, nonprofit management, or a related field. Experience planning and executing events and programs of varying scale. Experience building partnerships and collaborating across departments or organizations. Experience in volunteer management and/or donor cultivation preferred. Demonstrated success building strong relationships with a wide range of constituents from diverse backgrounds. Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills with a high degree of professionalism and discretion. Strategic thinker with the ability to implement initiatives, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines. Creative, proactive, and collaborative approach to problem-solving and program development Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn Chapman’s CRM database and other digital systems. Comfort using social media, email marketing, and event management tools. Ability to travel locally and regionally, and to work occasional evenings and weekends for events.
