Position Summary 
SUMMARY: This individual assists the Director in supporting excellence in teaching and learning by developing and administering the delivery of faculty development opportunities. Under the supervision of the director, the assistant director is responsible for developing in-person, online, and just-in-time training resources focusing on teaching and learning, academic faith integration, the scholarship of teaching and learning, and technology for education. The individual is expected to remain current in research on faculty development and maintain ongoing personal experience teaching at the post-secondary level. The individual in this position will perform the following duties.
Pay Range  | The compensation for this appointment will range from $90,000 – $105,000  annually and reflects what California Baptist University reasonably expects to pay for this faculty appointment. Actual compensation may vary based on the qualifications and experience of the applicant, as well as market conditions. In addition to wages, CBU offers a robust suite of employee benefits.

Qualifications 

Teaching Responsibilities 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
A. Coordinates the activities of the Center for Faculty Development, focusing on adjunct support, technology for education, and teaching and learning awards.B. Maintain currency with best practices in technology for education, including artificial intelligence, CBU’s core instructional technology tools, and innovative technology opportunities.C. Creating, collecting and organizing resources for a library of faculty development to include in-person, online, and just-in-time resources.D. Coordinates adjunct faculty support by providing direct resources as well as supporting schools and colleges in their adjunct support opportunities.E. Coordinates with Instructional Technology Services to maintain currency of CBU’s technology offerings while also advocating the adoption of new and/or innovative technology tools that will support classroom instruction.F. Serves as the primary point of contact with ITS.G. Maintain personal teaching experience at the post-secondary level sufficient to have credibility and perspective on the teaching and learning process.H. Supervise student workers and the Learning Systems Analyst who provide support to faculty in the form of technology support, course copies, etc.

Appointment and Evaluation A. The Assistant Director of the Center for Faculty Development is recommended by the Director of the Center for Faculty Development for consideration by the Associate Provost for Educational Effectiveness and the Provost.B. The Assistant Director of the Center for Faculty Development is evaluated annually by the Director of the Center for Faculty Development. The Assistant Director of the Center for Faculty Development serves at the pleasure of the Provost, and may be returned to faculty status without cause, due process or notice. If the Assistant Director wishes to return to faculty status, he or she must notify the Provost by December 1 of the prior academic year.Leadership ResponsibilitiesA. Support the University’s mission and goals, the continuous quality improvement process and embrace a broad institutional view.B. Serve as a team member and lead through service and modeling.C. Build consensus between administration and faculty, respecting lines of communication as set forth by the University.D. Participate with the Provost’s Office in developing, implementing and periodically revising a strategic long-range plan.E. Participate in University events.F. Understand and enforce guidelines and policies set forth in the Employee Manual.

Academic Responsibilities and Other Duties. A. Fulfill teaching assignments as determined by the contract.B. Demonstrate and lead in a commitment to the integration of faith and learning.C. Demonstrate and lead in a commitment to the utilization of technology in instruction.D. Demonstrate and lead in a commitment to assess learning.E. Demonstrate an ongoing commitment to research and scholarship.
