Assistant Director, Student Success Full Description

Job Summary
Under the supervision and in collaboration with the Director, Student Success this position will identify, develop, and implement programming including monthly dialogues, campaigns, and events that celebrate communities. Support the coordination of large-scale programmatic efforts such as Transgender Day of Remembrance, Drag Show, identity-based graduate celebrations, and other community gatherings. The Assistant Director will support communities of all backgrounds, but not limited to, those who identify as LGBTQA (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender & Gender Non-Binary, and Queer/Questioning, Asexual) and ALANA (African, Latino/a, Asian and Native American) students.

This role reports to the Director of Student Success, a position that sits within the Division of Student Success. The Assistant Director is required to work some evenings and weekends.
Essential Functions
  • Promote a sense of belonging through interaction with students, student leaders, and the SCDI staff.
  • Hire, train, and supervise SCDI student staff. This includes scheduling and payroll. Utilize student staff on management of resources and SCDI´s spaces. Build leadership among student workers as representatives of the SCDI office.
  • Support in student recruitment and onboarding efforts (Open Houses, Accepted Students Days, and Welcome Week) through the creation of programming that identify SCDI´s resources and supports Drexel.
  • Partner and collaborate with key offices and affinity groups to program, amplify cross-cultural awareness, and build an inclusive and welcoming environment.
  • Support the operations of Mario’s Market with the Director of Student Success and Student Life.
  • Function as a liaison to the identity-based student organizations by providing guidance and education on event planning, policy interpretation, organization of Dragon Link, self-advocacy, etc. Serve as liaison between student leaders and Drexel´s leadership.
  • Support in student recruitment and onboarding efforts (Open Houses, Accepted Students Days, and Welcome Week) through the creation of programming that identify SCDI´s resources and supports Drexel University´s recruiting/retention goals.
  • Collaborate with the Director in developing social presence and in building the image of the SCDI that represents the programs and services available to students.
  • Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree or the equivalent combination of education and work experience. (Please review the Equivalency Chart for additional information.)
  • Minimum of 2 years of progressive higher education experience.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends to support events.

Additional Information
This position is classified as Exempt, grade J. Compensation for this grade ranges from $47,490 - $71,230per year. Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
