Assistant Director, Transfer Admissions Full Description

Job Summary
The Assistant Director for Transfer Admissions serves as a primary contact for prospective students and their families, transfer advisors and other individuals or organizations involved in the college selection process. Key responsibilities include all aspects of the college recruitment process, including managing the application funnel and generating applications, and managing the prospective student relationship from point of application through enrollment. The Assistant Director will also have the opportunity to assist our First-Year admission team with recruitment and funnel management. 

The Assistant Director interacts with prospective transfer students and their families during individual meetings, information sessions, and campus events to build a relationship, answer questions, and explain the benefits of attending Drexel University. The Assistant Director also counsels accepted transfer students through the enrollment process to facilitate a smooth transition to Drexel.

The Assistant Director will be responsible for recruiting prospective students both locally and nationally through visits to community colleges, college fairs, conferences, community events, and virtual fairs within a designated territory, with the potential to travel to first year recruitment events. The Assistant Director should expect to travel up to 6 weeks in the fall and 6 weeks in the spring. In addition, the Assistant Director will be responsible for managing all aspects of recruitment territories, travel scheduling and planning, meeting with students, parents and guidance counselors, representing Drexel University at on and off campus events, and reviewing undergraduate applications (both domestic and international) for admission, and as needed provide support for undergraduate large-scale events, which includes evening and weekend hours.
This is a hybrid position, working on-campus several times a week.
Essential Functions
  • Assisting in planning and implementing the student recruitment plan for specific admissions programs or projects.
  • Coordinating external and internal recruiting efforts for a specific College/School; assume responsibility for planning, coordinating and supervising specific programs or projects, as assigned.
  • Corresponding and/or meeting with prospective students, applicants, their families, and others seeking information on admission standards, academic and non-academic programs and student activities.
  • Attending receptions, forums and corporate presentations to enhance recruitment efforts.
  • Analyzing qualifications of prospective students utilizing established admissions standards, guidelines and criteria, reviewing unusual circumstances with senior leadership as appropriate.
  • Traveling monthly to community colleges within a designated territory and potentially to first year recruitment events.
  • Assisting First-Year admissions as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree or the equivalent combination of education and work experience. (Please review the Equivalency Chart for additional information.)
  • Minimum of 2 years of higher education experience.
  • Ability to travel domestically with up to 6 weeks during the spring and up to 6 weeks in the fall recruitment seasons.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends.
  • Understanding of higher education.
  • Strong customer service and verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to effectively plan.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage, lead, and manage projects skillfully.
  • High level of energy and the willingness to work as part of a team. 
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License.

This position is classified as Exempt, grade J. Compensation for this grade ranges from $47,490 - $71,230 per year. Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
