Assistant Manager, Communications Full Description

Position Summary: 
Promote and publicize sports information to local, regional and national media, including television, radio, print, and electronic outlets including social media. Supervise compilation of game statistics (during matches) and game highlights and distribute to visiting teams and newspapers, radio, TV, NYU website, and sport organizations (e.g., NCAA, UAA and individual sport organizations). Directly oversee the production of live-stream broadcasts of all home varsity sporting events. Design and write sport publications including game programs, individual sport brochures, and media guides. Travel with selected teams and post score and game highlights to NY media. Update the athletics web site to insure current and accurate information. Research special interest stories to highlight NYU athletes. Maintain archival filing and retrieval. Hire, train, and supervise student employees. 

Qualifications: 
Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree

Preferred Education:
Master's Degree in communications, journalism or related.

Required Experience:
2+ years of relevant experience in college athletics, professional athletics or related field or equivalent combination of education or experience.

Preferred Experience:
5+ years of experience working in a sports information or public relations office.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Excellent written and verbal communications sills, ability to handle multiple priorities, and successfully meet deadlines. Working knowledge with use of social media modems, Photoshop, Microsoft Word, SideArm, InDesign, or other. Knowledge of sports statistics.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Proficiency with use of social media modems, Adobe PageMaker, Photoshop, Microsoft Word, HTML, DreamWeaver, and SideArm. Knowledge of sports statistics. 

Additional Information: 
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $70,000.00 to USD $77,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
