The Associate Dean motivates academic and workforce faculty to expedite relevant and quality curriculum and instructional development within the division. This position supports and facilitates credit and noncredit pathways to expand opportunities and strengthen student success.Within the academic department, the position provides direct management and supervision for the Business and Workforce faculty and staff and works efficiently in an environment of change. Assists department chairs and/or faculty in the creation of new curricular offerings, encourages program revisions and updates, and strengthens business advisory membership and participation. The Associate Dean works collaboratively across the institution and supports faculty and staff to strengthen student success and increase enrollment, certification, and graduation rates.

Duties include hiring, evaluation, leadership of faculty and staff, course scheduling efficiency, planning, and budgeting, management of initiatives and projects, program analysis and expansion, grant-related activities, developing external business relationships, and continuous planning, assessment, and improvement activities.
Within the noncredit workforce department, the position provides leadership and supervision ofprogrammatic activities to establish, launch, and expand programs, through open enrollmentofferings and custom training sales in key industry sectors: IT (hi-tech IT certifications and graphics- related, among others); Advanced Technologies (Machining, Welding, Surveying); Infrastructure (Construction, Asphalt, Heavy Equipment Operation); Trades (HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, Core Craft); Transportation and Logistics (CDL, procurement); Business (Entrepreneurship, Human Resources) and Healthcare (Phlebotomy, Doula, Medical Office Specialist, among others). This person works collaboratively with subject matter experts to increase enrollments and tuition revenue. This position works effectively with internal and external partners to provide programs and services that meet the diverse and changing needs of the community, including incumbent workers, displaced workers, and business entities. The position provides leadership to align noncredit programming efforts with best practices and a self-sufficiency model by using metrics, reports, and financial projections to ensure noncredit programming meets benchmarks and departmental revenue goals. The person collaborates with the business community, external partners and constituents, college faculty, relevant departments, serve employers and customers. The person proactively engages in business outreach and conducts custom training sales activities and engages in continuous improvement activities to support VCCS, college, and workforce goals. Managing grants is necessary for this position. Special Assignments | May be required to perform other duties as assigned.
