Scope of Job  | The University of Texas Rio Grande School of Medicine (UTRGV SOM) seeks an Associate Dean of Graduate Medical Education or Designated Institutional Official (DIO). The DIO, in collaboration with a Graduate Medical Education Committee, has the authority and responsibility for the oversight and administration of the Sponsoring Institution’s ACGME-accredited programs, as well as for ensuring compliance with the ACGME Institutional, Common, and specialty/subspecialty-specific Program Requirements. The DIO will work with the program directors and hospital leadership to foster a diverse and inclusive community of graduate medical education (GME) faculty, staff, residents, and fellows of the highest quality. Oversees the development of new GME Programs and fellowships in coordination with the SOM and partner hospital finance teams. Collects, displays and analyzes data as well as drives continuous process improvement on program and institutional quality indicators, including Annual Update for each program, Annual Program Evaluations, Annual Institutional Review, ACGME Faculty and Resident Survey data, CLER visit reports, Site visit reports, Graduate Performance data, Faculty Development Data, and Program Director development. The DIO Represents the School of Medicine in all external matters pertaining to Graduate Medical Education.

Additional Information  | UTRGV is a distributed institution. As such and as assigned, the position may
require presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley. Work is
performed primarily in a general office environment. This position is security sensitive
and thereby subject to the provisions of the Texas Education Code
§51.215. The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of
Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least
135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement
Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week
and at least 135 days in length.
