Position Description
Advertised Job Summary | The Associate Director will oversee the administration of the Federal Direct Student and Parent Loan programs, along with the administration of private educational loans. These programs total over $250,00,000 annually.
Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience | Requires a bachelor’s degree in a job related field and 5 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience. Required Certification, Licensure/Other Credentials | Preferred Qualifications | Masters degree and two years experience in educational loan administration and 3 or more years of supervisory experience. Student financial aid experience required, preferably in a medium to large sized institution. Thorough knowledge of Direct Loan regulations required. Experience with a financial aid computer system essential. Supervisory experience preferred. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities | Ability to work in a highly automated, complex organization. Should be able to effectively communicate orally and in writing with various publics. Leadership capabilities, a high energy level, and a sincere dedication to outstanding student service as well as outstanding organizational skills. Commitment to innovation, and the ability to be flexible when situations demand also required.

Job Duty | Remains current on the handling of Federal Direct Student and Parent Loans. Essential Function | Yes Percentage of Time | 10Job Duty | Assists in the office’s general student application review by reviewing applications, analyzing specific needs and situations, securing follow-up information when needed, and reviewing and adjusting awards when necessary. This is all accomplished with a thorough knowledge of the entire student financial aid process from application through delivery. Essential Function | Yes Percentage of Time | 10Job Duty | Provides training and updated information to the loan services team and to other staff as appropriate to accomplish the coordinated office effort necessary to meet the demands of the University’s educational student loan borrowers. Essential Function | Yes Percentage of Time | 10Job Duty | Counsels and advises student and parents regarding all general aspects of student financial aid with particular emphasis on educational loans.
