The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
 

Position Summary

The Associate Director of Career Services and Professional Practice will strengthen the relationship between the real estate industry and the Graduate School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation (GSAPP), with a focus on the Master of Science in Real Estate Development (MSRED) program and its students.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

The Associate Director will:

(1) Develop and implement a continuous strategy to identify, prospect, and maintain relationships with external partners to secure high-profile industry placements for students.

Represent GSAPP positively to prospective, current, and former students, as well as the broader community.

Develop and execute 9 to 12 annual Career Services events focused on Real Estate Development. (20%)

 

(2) Meet student advising metrics as defined by the MSRED Faculty Program Director.

Offer practical training in job search techniques, including résumé and cover letter writing, interview skills, and salary negotiation. (20%)

 

(3) Identify and post 300 to 400 real estate-specific career opportunities annually in the GSAPP Gateway.

Manage the collection, maintenance, and reporting of placement data, ensuring accuracy and accessibility.

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of employment trends and best practices in career development. (20%)

 

(4) In consultation with the MSRED Faculty Program Director, develop and oversee the MSRED internship course.

In collaboration with the MSRED Faculty Program Director, develop and maintain the annual MSRED mentorship program for alumni and students.

Organize and administer travel for the MSRED program, including study trips, and coordinate with class assistants and industry contacts.

Under the guidance of the Associate Dean for Development, implement strategies to secure and retain corporate sponsors for program events and student conferences. (20%)

 

(5)  Assist the MSRED Faculty Program Director with admissions processes, including but not limited to application review and student outreach. (10%)

 

(6) Assist the Director in developing budget requests for the MSRED program Career Services activities.

Ensure that events and activities comply with university, state, and federal regulations. (5%)

 

(7) Performs other duties as assigned. (5%)

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. 

A minimum of four years of relevant experience is required.

Must have, or quickly acquire, detailed knowledge of University policies, procedures, and systems.

Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills are required.

Initiative, discretion, ability to set priorities, work under pressure, work without supervision, and to exercise good independent judgment.

Computer literacy and experience with funds management are also required.
