Job Summary/Basic FunctionsThe University of Mary Washington seeks an Associate Director of Financial Aid to oversee and direct a renewed customer service focus in the Office of Financial Aid. This staff member will oversee front-line service functions ensuring an exceptional customer or stakeholder experience. Duties include leading customer service operations, leading a team focused on resolving complex student financial aid concerns, and collaborating with campus partners to provide clear, accurate, and timely guidance that helps students successfully navigate the financial aid process and paying for college. The Associate Director serves as a key resource for staff, manages escalated cases, and contributes to policy development, compliance, and continuous process improvement. This individual reports to the Director of Financial Aid.
Required KSAs/Competencies/Qualifications
Strong knowledge of Title IV regulations and financial aid processes.
Demonstrated excellence in customer service and student support.
Outstanding communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and exercise sound judgment.
Required Experience:
Extensive progressively responsible experience in financial aid or a related area.
Additional Considerations:
Master’s degree in higher education, business, counseling, or related field or equivalent applicable experience or training.
Supervisory or team-lead experience.
Experience with financial aid management systems (e.g., Banner/Ellucian, Workday).
Bilingual or multilingual abilities.
